MoxMe! Nabs Connecticut “Company To Watch” Award from CTC/Cantor Coburn
September 30, 2010 (New Haven, CT) -- The Connecticut Technology Council has named MoxMe!, the social group networking company, to the Tech Companies to Watch, Class of 2010. Companies on this list were honored for their potential and innovation. MoxMe! was chosen in the Internet and New Media Companies category.
About UsMoxMe! was founded by five kids tired of classroom scheduling confusion and missed soccer games due to poorly communicated schedules and changes in plans. They figured there had to be a better way of sharing contacts, communications and calendars at the community level. What resulted was MoxMe! a SuperGroup™ platform that enhances the group experience for existing social media applications such as Facebook, Google and LinkedIn.
As MoxMe! grew from cool concept to a business reality, industry veteran and serial entrepreneur Danny Briere joined the effort to help the kids shape MoxMe! into a market-driven internet phenomenon. OUR CUSTOMERSMoxMe! serves the US-based K-12 school systems and their associated communities. With approximately 120,000 school systems supporting 75-100 million constituents across the US, this is a significant and nascent market that MoxMe! alone is serving in a first-mover capacity. While MoxMe! is currently focused on the community marketplace, its functionality is horizontal and applicable to any market leaving significant opportunity for future growth in adjacent markets.

MoxMe! Quick Facts
What Does "MoxMe!" Mean? When we were creating the company we wanted a name that was short, easy to say, hip, and a verb -- since MoxMe! is a very active, action-oriented service. We also wanted something that was time-oriented if possible, since a major aspect of MoxMe! is its priority settings. We also wanted something with attitude because, well, we're kids and kids are supposed to have attitude. :-) So Emily happened to be studying her Latin Homework words during the meeting (we let her off for that one because she came up with a good idea), and saw that 'mox' in Latin meant 'soon'. Making it a verb lead to MoxMe, and adding the exclamation point added the attitude. So now our slogan is, "Want Me? MoxMe!" |
